England Walking Football

Cyprus vs England - 21st - 23rd November 2025

England’s Walking Football squads enjoyed an unforgettable three-day tour to Alana Sports in Paphos, where high-quality fixtures, exceptional sportsmanship, and warm Mediterranean hospitality combined to create a truly special experience.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Lynne, Mick, and the entire Cyprus Federation of Walking Football for organising the trip and making every player and staff member feel so welcome. Alongside the matches, both the men’s and women’s squads took the opportunity to bond off the pitch—sharing meals, exploring the area, and even taking part in some friendly volleyball battles on the beach. New friendships were formed, old ones strengthened, and a deep mutual respect grew between the England and Cyprus squads.

Women’s Fixtures – 21 November 2025

The tour kicked off with a fantastic evening of football as England Women’s O55s and U55s faced two well-prepared Cyprus sides under the floodlights in Paphos.

Women’s Over-55s

Cyprus 0–2 England

A composed and controlled performance set the tone for the night. England dominated possession with mature, patient build-up play before securing the win through excellent finishes from Redston and Benson.

Their structure, communication, and game management highlighted the progress the squad has made in recent months. A fantastic debut performance for newly appointed manager, Mel Benson.

Women’s Under-55s

Cyprus 1–5 England

The U55s delivered a dynamic and confident performance, showcasing bright movement and sharp passing combinations.

A brace from Smith, along with goals from Williams, Pavett, and Holsworth, sealed a dominant 5–1 victory.

The interchanging of positions and relentless tempo made it one of the squad’s standout displays of the year. Both teams praised the Cyprus sides for competitive, spirited matches played in an atmosphere of respect and enjoyment. The hospitality shown before, during, and after the games left a lasting impression.

A physical, fiercely contested match where both sides battled for every inch.

The match demonstrated the squad’s resilience, organisation, and determination.

Men’s Over-50s22 November 2025

England 0–3 Cyprus

With the majority of the squad making their international debut—and working with new management—this fixture was always going to be a learning opportunity.

Despite the result, the O50s showed strong team spirit, work rate, and flashes of real promise.

The experience will prove invaluable as the group builds cohesion, identity, and belief for future camps.

🏖 Team Bonding & Friendship

While the football was central, the off-pitch experience was just as important.

Throughout the trip, England’s men’s and women’s squads mixed, supported each other’s matches, and shared time together around Paphos.

A highlight for many was the friendly volleyball sessions, filled with laughter, competitiveness, and plenty of questionable technique!

It was these moments—between players, staff, and our Cypriot hosts—that helped forge friendships that will last long beyond the tour. The mutual respect between the England and Cyprus squads was evident in every interaction, from the intensity on the pitch to the warm conversations afterwards.

A Trip to Remember

This visit to Alana Sports in Paphos will be remembered as one of the most enjoyable and enriching tours England Walking Football has experienced.

The hospitality from the Cyprus Federation of Walking Football was exceptional, and the spirit of the games perfectly reflected what walking football is all about: competition, camaraderie, and connection. England look forward to continuing to build this growing football friendship.
